to Influence serotonin more effective than dopamineMark Millan and his colleagues from the Research Institute of Croissy in Paris found that serotonin plays a significant role in the regulation of moods, thinking, and motor activity not only in healthy people, but suffering from schizophrenia. Previously it was assumed that schizophrenia, mainly due to disorder of the mechanisms of synthesis and destruction in the brain of dopamine - a substance regulating motor activity. Such classical antipsychotics, like haloperidol, regulate the activity of the dopamine system. However, recent studies have shown that this substance as serotonin also plays a role in the development of schizophrenia. Researchers have shown that drugs acting on serotonin receptors, adequately and effectively relieve psychotic products of schizophrenia. Such a drug could reduce autoceste patients to improve their cognitive abilities, to reduce musculoskeletal disorders. It is assumed that drugs that act simultaneously on dopamine and serotonin receptors will be most effective in the treatment of schizophrenia. However, despite the huge amount of research in this area, unambiguous results are not achieved.
